AIA Greenville, a local section of the American Institute of Architects’ South Carolina chapter, launched a pet architecture competition entitled PAWchitecture Greenville yesterday, July 18, 2023. The contest will gather designers, builders, and architecture students from the local community to create unique cat condos and dog houses. Established firms such as Craig Caulden Davis, Fathom Firm, KEEL Concepts, and A M King will also be participating in the contest.
According to Greenville Journal, the products of the said event will be sold at a community auction in fall of this year. All event proceeds will be used for the benefit of Greenville County Animal Care’s Safety Net foster program, an initiative designed to help people in crisis due to financial hardship or personal emergencies find reliable temporary homes for their pets.
The finished contest entries will be displayed from October 13 to 30, 2023 at Auro Hotels’ Hyatt Regency, which is located at 220 N. Main St. in downtown Greenville. Organizers will present the auction proceeds to Greenville County Animal Care representatives at a celebratory event to be held in November.
