Louisiana native Zoey, who is a 3-year-old Labrador-German Shepherd mix, has been recently recognized by the Guinness World Records for the distinction of having the world’s longest tongue in a living dog. Owned by Drew and Sadie Williams, the dog flaunted a licker that measured 5 inches or 12.7 centimeters.

In a report published by The Guardian, Zoey’s owners recalled how even as a puppy, she’d been constantly earning attention due to her long tongue. It wasn’t until March 2023, however, that Drew and Sadie decided to gather proof that Zoey has the longest tongue in a living dog. A veterinarian measured the length of Zoey’s tongue from her snout, and this measurement was duly sent to the Guinness World Records organization.

Bagging the record was a cause for celebration in the Williams household. Upon getting the confirmation from Guinness, Drew and Sadie treated their record-holding dog to deluxe doggie treats. They also spent the day playing fetch, swimming, and doing activities that Zoey enjoys. The certificate awarded to Zoey is currently on display in the couple’s home and serves as an excellent conversation starter.
